Level 1 - Introduction into Accounting

This course is specifically for people who are considering a career in accountancy or running their own business, with little or no experience in business finance. You will be enrolled on this course if you have been assessed as ready to move onto the level 1 qualification, as it will introduce the course and prepare you to start. If you are not sure if the qualification course or subject is right for you at this time, you can join this course to explore this and confirm you are ready for the commitment of the full course and its assessment methods.

This course is a non-accredited course that will act as a taster and introductory session. The lessons are all classroom based with full tutor support. You may be required to complete some further initial assessment for the qualification whilst on this course, but you will not need to complete any homework or exams. You will be introduced to the workbooks for the level 1 course, but these will not be available to take home until you have started the full qualification.

Completion of an Initial Assessment and an adequate Level of English and Maths qualifications will be required for entry onto this course, which will be discussed at enrolment. You will need to have skills equivalent to Entry 3 functional skills if you do not hold a certificate for this. Progress onto the level 1 qualification course is not guaranteed. If your level of English is assessed during this course to not be at an adequate level, we will refer you to additional options for you to improve and gain those skills before joining a vocational qualification. An Essential Digital Skills course will also be recommended if you are not confident with the use of a computer, as this will be required to complete the full course.

If you decide that being an Accountant is your preferred career path, you will take the initial assessment for the qualification courses at the end of this course. This will show you which level of course you need to start with on your learning journey. If you show commitment to the programme, it’s an automatic enrolment onto L1, L2 and L3 Accounting.
