Essential Digital Skills - Entry 3

The Digital Skills for Beginners Course is a 5-week course for those who are new to using a computer or who have very little knowledge. It will provide you with the basics to get you started, develop your skills accessing a digital device to use the Internet and create documents.

You will learn all the relevant skills in using a PC in the modern world. There are units covering the five areas within the government's Essential Digital Framework which include: • Being safe and responsible online and on digital devices • Using digital devices and handling information • Creating and editing • Digital communication • Transacting digitally

This is a face to face, classroom-based course and will receive guidance from your tutor to work through a variety of online and PC-based resources both individually and in paired or group work. You will receive excellent feedback to help you improve your skills, enhance your learning and successfully take the two exams (Knowledge and Skills). As part of the course you will be set up with full access to Office365.

There are no formal entry requirements, but you will be using IT. If you are not confident with your IT skills consider our Learn how to use your Google Classroom or Digital Skills for Beginners courses.

This course can lead to further progression in IT qualifications such as EDSQ L1. It will also give both yourself and your future employers confidence that you have gained relevant IT skills to be able to work competently in a modern office environment. To complement this, our suite of free employability courses will provide you with the further, softer, skills you need to secure future employment.
