This course is for people aged 25 or over, who have moderate learning disabilities. This course will benefit people who want to develop their English and Maths skills so that they can complete everyday tasks in their lives. For example: handling money, reading labels on food, completing forms. There are no examinations in this course.

You will learn: Write simple sentences with good spelling; Read from newspapers, magazines, books and letters; Take part in discussions and activities which are of interest; Learn how to stay safe when using a computer to search on the internet; The four rules of number and various methods when calculating; Add and subtract money and check change; The metric and imperial measurements for length, weight and capacity; The names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes; How to understand information presented in tables, graphs and charts

There will be no exams or qualifications, and the course will focus on safe activities. There will be a specialist English and Maths tutor to teach you, and when you meet the staff before you sign up for the course, we will find out whether the course is right for you, and what extra support you might need. To get the most out of your class, please come on time. Try not to miss any classes (you agree to attend at least 80% of the lessons). Lessons will be practical and take place in the classroom.
