The Home Office does not accept ESOL qualifications from any college. You must take a SELT (Secure English Language Test) from Trinity or an IELTS exam to prove your level of English. However, you must attend ESOL courses to help you improve your English to reach the level you need for the Home Office. This is a comparison of the levels: The Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR • A1 ESOL Entry 1 • A2 ESOL Entry 2 • B1 ESOL Entry 3 • B2 ESOL Level 1 • C1 ESOL Level 2 This course will help you get ready to take the English language exam you need to apply for British Citizenship and Permanent Residency (B1). We are the only approved test preparation centre in Leicester. You will cover the exam requirements in the class and take some mock tests. We are not a test centre, so you need to book the test yourself.

• speaking and listening in English. B1 exams only cover speaking and listening • using the correct grammar and vocabulary required at the level We will help you get ready for your English language test. Your teacher will explain to you what you need to do in the test and do mock exams with you. For more information about the tests visit: www.trinitycollege.com/SELT

The course runs once a week and lasts 2 weeks. If you need more time, we can give you more lessons. The classes are online. Your teacher will also use Google Classroom, Google Meet, and other websites to help you access online learning. If you are not confident studying online, your teacher will help you.

We will not teach you all the grammar at that level. We will revise the grammar and the different topics needed for the test and help you get ready for the test. • B1 Exam - You must have a minimum ESOL Entry 2 certificate and preferably be studying ESOL Entry 3 The course is not only for ESOL learners. If you are not sure about your level of English, ask to speak to a member of the ESOL team. Please speak to an Enrolment Advisor for information or advice about booking an initial assessment.
