This course is based in various community venues across the city. It is designed for those who are new to using a computer or who may have very little knowledge or are looking to develop their skills. It is a great space to practise your digital skills without pressure.

This course will introduce you to logging on to a device, using email accounts, Google, using the internet and some basic document editing. Throughout the course you may also wish to explore some Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Based in digital suites in various libraries around the city you will find a welcoming tutor who will encourage and guide you in your learning journey. There will be a range of activities designed to build your confidence as well as your understanding of digital skills. Being a non-accredited course there are no exams, you can work at your own pace and spend time practising your skills. Your tutor will encourage you to try new things and become more digitally independent. There will be a measure of flexibility within the course, this means the tutor will work with you to help focus your learning towards the skills you need. This may be basic internet navigation, email accounts, or using Microsoft Applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

There are no requirements for prior understanding of digital skills. However, you are expected to have at least Entry level English reading, listening and comprehension skills.

This course will give you the skills needed to be able to progress onto our Essential Digital Skills Entry 3 qualification. You may also wish to learn more about Microsoft applications on our Microsoft Skills - Intermediate course.
