Essential Digital Skills - Level 1 follows on after completing an Entry 3 qualification. You will have gained experience using the internet and digital devices in Entry 3, Level 1 builds on this to help you get to grips with technology used in the work place such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as improving your day to day digital skills.

L1 - The course covers 5 main areas at a higher level than in Entry 3: • Digital devices and handling online information • Creating and editing documents, including Excel • Communicating online - emails/video calls • Completing online forms to make secure purchases • Online safety and responsibility - keeping devices and information secure E3 - You will learn all the relevant skills in using a PC in the modern world. There are units covering the five main areas within the government's Essential Digital Framework which include: communicating, handling information and content, transacting, problem solving and being safe and legal online. You will be developing your online communication, creating and editing documents using WORD, POWERPOINT and EXCEL (depending upon level), learning about buying online and keeping yourself safe and legal with all online activities.

L1 - This course will take place in one of the digital suites at Leicester Adult Education. You will work through various activities and class discussions to help build your skills in the 5 main areas of study. Throughout the course your tutor will assess your understanding and prepare you for two exams which will take place at the end of the course. You will undertake a Knowledge Exam, which is primarily theoretical with multiple choice style questions, and a Skills Exam, a practical scenario-based exam. Both exams are taken on a computer with instant results. Upon passing both exams you will achieve a Level 1 Essential Digital Skills Qualification from BCS. To help you develop your skills you will be given an account with Office365 which will enable to you effectively practice your digital skills outside of the lesson. E3 - Within a classroom environment you will receive guidance form your tutor to work through a variety of online and PC-based resources both individually and in paired or group work. You will receive excellent feedback to help you improve your skills and enhance your learning. All assessments will be online and undertaken as and when you are ready to complete each unit.

L1 - You will be expected to have completed Essential Digital Skills - Entry 3 to this qualification. You will also need to demonstrate a minimum of Entry 3 English skills. E3 - There are no formal entry requirements. However you are expected to have basic entry level English reading, listening and comprehension skills. You will also be expected to have basic computer skills or have completed our Digital Skills for Beginners course.

L1 - This course will help you progress on to qualifications such as the Level 2 Award in Digital Skills or the full Level 2 Certificate in Digital Skills. You may also wish to focus on building your confidence with Microsoft applications in either the Microsoft Skills - Intermediate or the Microsoft Skills - Advanced courses. E3 - This course can lead to further progression in IT qualifications such as ECDL L2. It will also give both yourself and your future employers confidence that you have gained relevant IT skills to be able to work competently in a modern office environment.
