This course is suitable for those who have an advanced knowledge of the language (CEFR Level C1/C2). Ideally, you would have completed a level 5 course.

Le Silence de la mer is a French novella written in 1941 by Jean Bruller under the pseudonym "Vercors". Published secretly in German-occupied Paris in 1942, the book quickly became a symbol of mental resistance against German occupiers. In this course, you will be learning and discussing the work of the author, the plot of the novel as well as its main themes and characters.

There will be no exams or qualifications. This course will mainly be delivered in the language using an immersive approach. Whilst you will, predominantly, be using speaking and listening skills in class, it is also important to recognise and address the fact that reading and writing skills are also very important at this level. Reading and writing will be mainly explored as part of homework, via Google Classroom, which the tutor will mark and feed the results back to you.

You need to have a good understanding of the spoken language, as well as be able to produce it verbally (to a greater or lesser degree of accuracy) in order to access lessons and complete tasks effectively.

This course leads to advanced courses (CEFR C1/C2). Your tutor will be able to give you more information before the end of your course.
