Exploring Art History: Women Artists pre 1900

This course is suitable for people with some interest but little knowledge, as the tutor will be covering the basics. This is not a qualification course.

Art History has been dominated by male artists, but who are the women artists who contributed to the development of art? On this course we will look at prominent female artists making their mark, from the Renaissance to 1900. The course is discussion based so you will get a chance to share your opinions and feelings about the art presented.

There will be no exams or qualifications. Lessons will be classroom based and supported by Google Classroom. This is our virtual learning space which will enhance your learning experience and will be used for resources, extra activities, reading materials, homework, assignments, as well as to extend learning and support independent learning throughout the week. You will be able to access Google Classroom via a secure leicesterlearns account. You will be given an Individual Learning Plan on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress. You will be expected to comment briefly in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve. So that you can be successful in your learning, we require that you arrive promptly for each lesson, and that you try not to miss any (you need to agree to attend at least 80% of the lessons). Additionally, students will be asked to complete a course evaluation survey to share their learning experience. This survey will be shared via Google classroom at the end of the course.
