Porcelain Jewellery

This course is intended for people with mixed levels of experience. The tutor will ensure that total beginners will get the instruction and support they need, and that those who are more advanced in the subject will be given tasks with more challenge. We are running three 10 week courses and a one day session with this title. Please confirm at time of enrolment to ensure you are booked on the right course.

Learn how to create and use porcelain for jewellery. Experiment with texture and surface detail on porcelain. Learn how to prepare, glue and attach jewellery fittings to ceramics. Practice how to safely use pliers and wire to combine ceramics with beads.

The lesson will be classroom based and supported by Google Classroom. This is our virtual learning space which will enhance your learning experience and will be used for resources, assessment, as well as to extend learning and support independent learning.  You will be able to access Google Classroom via your secure leicesterlearns account. So that you can be successful in learning the subject, we do require that you arrive promptly.  You will be asked to contribute to a Learning Plan on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress. You will be expected to comment briefly in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve. Extra costs: For the one day course: All equipment, including porcelain and firing is included in this one day course. For the 10 week course: 1kg of porcelain is included in the course price. Additional porcelain, firing, glazes, finishes and transfers/decals are an additional cost which your tutor will advise you on. Please note: Your porcelain jewellery will need to be fired and will not be ready to take home on the day, it will need to be collected at a later date. Your Tutor will advise you on collection dates and times.

There will be no exams or qualifications, as the course will focus on creative activities. The Tutor will use a combination of group demonstrations and one-to-one support.
