The Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate (TA L3) course is designed for those looking to enhance their skills and take on greater responsibilities in the field of education. This advanced qualification equips you to support a wider range of student needs, including children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and prepares you for more complex teaching strategies and assessment tasks. You will also develop expertise in planning tailored support using assessment data.

This is a blended qualification with both theory and practical elements to give you the confidence to support children and young adults in a school setting. Throughout this course, you will develop your knowledge and skills across 11 units. This will be through the following 6 themes: • Child development. • Communication and teamwork. • Continuing professional development (CPD). • Health, safety and safeguarding. • Literacy, numeracy, ICT and assessment within the school. • Policies, procedures and legislation.

This is a vocational qualification assessed through a portfolio of evidence and detailed written assignments. You will be supported by your tutor to meet the national standards. The course requires a placement of 200 hours in a school, where you will gain hands-on experience. This needs to be in place within the first two weeks of starting the course. An assessor will observe and evaluate your performance in the workplace and provide constructive feedback.

To enrol on this course, you must meet the following criteria: • Hold Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (Functional Skills or GCSE) or equivalent overseas qualifications with an ENIC certificate. • Complete an initial vocational assessment to confirm your current vocational and English skills. • Undergo an enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange for you if required.

A career development opportunity for qualified teaching and learning assistants or those with allied experience, allowing you to apply for higher level roles. You will attend 3 hours a week in an online classroom plus a minimum of 10 hours a week in work (paid or voluntary), during which you will build a portfolio of assignments and assessed observed practice.
