English Entry 3
English Entry 3 courses develop learner’s skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
English Entry 3 courses teach learners how to:
- Follow, identify and extract relevant points from explanations, discussions, information, descriptions and instructions.
- Use appropriate language to form clearly focused questions to obtain information and seek clarification where required.
- Express their ideas and opinions clearly and confidently in group discussions and one-to-one situations whilst allowing others the opportunity to express their points.
- Confidently respond to questions and the views expressed by others in a respectful and positive manner.
- Develop strategies to work out the meaning of unfamiliar words/phrases to help them identify and understand the main points in texts that instruct, explain and describe information.
- Recognise the features used to structure a variety of texts and using these features to locate relevant information quickly and easily.
- Selecting the most suitable format and language to clearly express in writing their ideas and opinions.
- Using grammar and a range of punctuation to ensure the meaning is clear and written communication is effective.
- Spelling correctly common words associated with their level of study and developing memory techniques.
