English Level 1
Our English Entry 1 courses develop learner’s skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
English Level 1 courses teach learners how to:
- Speak with different people in familiar and unfamiliar situations, such as: education, training, and work.
- Follow and understand the main ideas of a formal discussion, understand the explanations, ask questions, ask for clarification, give their opinions, listen to others and offer different suggestions.
- Develop their presentation skills and give a short talk on a familiar topic. Learners will be involved in an informal discussion about a short presentation they have listened to.
- Develop their independent skills in reading and understanding different texts on a variety of topics and be able to find information from different texts such as: descriptive, instructional, explanatory and persuasive texts.
- There will be opportunities to look at a variety of functional tasks such as writing real-life texts, where learners will clearly communicate information, ideas and opinions using different formats such as: letters, emails, reports and articles.
- Increase their knowledge of grammar, develop spelling strategies and memory techniques as well as independent learning and study skills.

This course can lead to progression onto our English Level 2 courses.
