ESOL Entry 1
Our ESOL Entry 1 courses teach learners new skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
ESOL Entry 1 courses teach learners how to:
- Use simple language to ask questions and ask for more information.
- Understand simple instructions, listen to others, make comments and talk about likes and dislikes in a conversation.
- Read short stories inside and outside the classroom. Learners will find information from different types of real- life reading material like bus and train timetables, text messages, menus, adverts and signs.
- Write real-life texts, where learners will write basic information about themselves in forms and write short emails and postcards to friends.
- Write simple articles to their teacher describing things like places, hobbies and people.
- Learn grammar and new words.
- Develop spelling tips, memory techniques and study skills.
Learners will study topics including:

- Shopping
- Transport
- Festivals
- Food
- British culture

People learn in different ways, so our tutors use a variety of activities. These include:

If learners require additional support or other ways of learning, tutors will be able to help with these as well.
This course can lead to progression onto our ESOL Entry 2 courses.
