ESOL Entry 2
Our ESOL Entry 2 courses teach learners new skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
ESOL Entry 2 courses teach learners how to:
- Learn grammar to help them spell, learn new words and speak with more confidence.
- Use simple language to ask questions and ask for more information. For example, at their children’s school, at work, at college and using local facilities.
- Understand and talk to other people. For example, ask and answer questions, ask for information, give their opinion and make comments.
- Read and understand different texts to find information. For example, about work, understanding forms, maps and graphs.
- Write ‘real life’ texts. For example, complete forms, write emails and letters, write texts describing places and people.
- Study on their own so that you can improve their English.
- Learn memory techniques to help them to remember the things they have been taught.
Learners will study topics including:
- Education
- Work
- Free time
- British culture
- Places to visit in the UK
- Places to visit in Leicester
- Local facilities
- Festivals and celebrations
People learn in different ways, so our tutors use a variety of activities. These include:
- Group work
- Pair work
- Class discussions
- Quizzes and games
- Tests and assessments
- Spelling strategies
- Homework
- Reading tasks
- Grammar resources
- Learning records
If learners require additional support or other ways of learning, tutors will be able to help with these as well.
This course can lead to progression onto our ESOL Entry 3 and other courses.
