ESOL Entry 3
Our ESOL Entry 3 courses teach learners new skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
ESOL Entry 3 courses teach learners how to:
- Speak to different people in different situations, for example, at college, work, children’s school and when using local facilities.
- Understand the main ideas of a conversation, understand explanations, ask questions, ask for more information, make comments, give their opinions, listen to others, compare options and offer suggestions.
- Develop independent skills in reading and understanding different texts on a variety of topics. They will learn to find information in different texts such as: articles, reports, forms and simple graphs.
- Write real-life texts, for example, complete forms and write emails, letters, stories and descriptions.
- Improve their grammar, learn new words and learn ways to study outside the classroom.
- Learn memory techniques to help them remember what them have learnt.
Learners will study topics including:

- Comparing people and places
- Leisure activities and hobbies
- Giving advice
- Festivals and celebrations
- Planning an event
- British culture
People learn in different ways, so our tutors use a variety of activities. These include:
- Group work
- Pair work
- Class discussions
- Quizzes and games
- Tests and assessments
- Spelling strategies
- Homework
- Reading tasks
- Grammar resources
- Learning records
If learners require additional support or other ways of learning, tutors will be able to help with these as well.
This course can lead to progression onto our ESOL Level 1 and other courses.
