ESOL Level 2
Our ESOL Level 2 courses teach learners new skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
ESOL Level 2 courses teach learners how to:
- Speak to different people in familiar and unfamiliar situations, such as education, training, work and social roles.
- Follow and understand the main ideas of a conversation, understand explanations, ask questions, ask for more information, listen and make comments, make formal presentations, persuade others, give opinions, compare options and offer different suggestions.
- Analyse and take part in current debates about topics such as: the use of social media, climate change, obesity, the role of women at work and British Values.
- Develop independent skills in reading and understanding different texts like newspaper articles and fictional/non-fictional books on a variety of topics.
- Be able to find and evaluate information from different types of texts such as: historical accounts, reports, articles, newsletters, memos, letters, emails, surveys, forms, company policies, job adverts, job specifications and job contracts.
- Look at a variety of functional tasks such as writing real-life texts, where learners will clearly communicate information, ideas and opinions using different formats such as: work-training forms, course evaluation forms, funding forms, letters of complaint, letters/emails to a business contact, reviews, articles and informal emails.
- Increase their knowledge of grammar, developing spelling strategies and memory techniques as well as independent learning and study skills.

This course can be to progressing on to Functional Skills, GCSE, or other academic paths.
