REMIT – Adult Education for Mental Health
REMIT is a community-based education programme in Leicester for people aged 19+ who experience severe and enduring mental health difficulties. The programme is accessed via referral from a medical or mental health professional.
The REMIT programme includes courses which enable learners to develop their interpersonal, functional, practical, physical skills. Learners' also
gain knowledge, understanding, develop a sense of engagement and belonging. There is a focus on promoting wellbeing and self-confidence through participation and achievement.
As part of Leicester Adult Education, REMIT is based at the Leicester Adult Education College with close links to the mainstream adult education provision. Many REMIT courses take place at the college, whilst others will take place at community venues.
REMIT courses typically run between 10:00 - 12:00 in the morning or between 13:00 - 15:00 in the afternoon.

The criteria for a referral onto our REMIT programme are that potential learners should be:
- Aged 19+
- Medically diagnosed with a mental health condition
- Experiencing severe or enduring mental health difficulties that may prevent them from accessing other learning opportunities
- Interested in engaging in education, training, or paid /voluntary work.
To join a REMIT course, you will need a referral from a mental health professional. A mental health professional can download a referral form here. On the form, they will fill out their information and a few questions about the potential learner.
