Let's Get Digital - Health

Do you, or someone you know have little or no confidence using digital smart devices, such as mobile phones or tablets?

Let’s Get Digital is funded by Public Health to encourage people to use their digital devices confidently to access the NHS website and app. In addition, learners will explore how the digital world can help them to improve their social wellbeing and connect with other social groups.

Our Let’s Get Digital courses are held in small face-to-face groups, in venues across Leicester. They run once-a-week for 2.5 hours, for 3 consecutive weeks. Let’s Get Digital courses are free.

The courses will cover:

. Keeping safe online
. Setting up an email account
. Creating strong passwords
. Using Wi-Fi safely
. QR codes
. Using search engines more effectively to find places, courses and social groups for personal interest and hobbies.
. Downloading online services, such as GP surgeries, 111 online, NHS app
. Exploring the Joy app for interests and finding social connections online

Learners will need to enrol onto one of these courses before the start date.

This course will support learners to develop skills on their own devices. Learners should bring their own smart device and have an active email account. However, if they do not have an email account, they can still join the course or they are welcome to come to one of our digital drop-in sessions. Learn more about these below.

Digital Skills for Local Travel

In addition, we offer a course called Digital Skills for Local Travel. On this course, learners will be taught how to download and use a range of travel apps and digital maps. This is a 3-hour course, delivered in one session.

Learners will need to enrol onto one of these courses before the courses starts.

Digital Drop-in Sessions

For further help with smart phones and tablets, we offer a bi-monthly drop-in session at Leicester Adult Education College, LE1 6QL. You do not need to enrol onto these courses, just turn up with your smart device (mobile or tablet). Upcoming Digital Drop-in sessions:

Partner Information:
We can offer Let’s Get Digital and Digital Skills for Local Travel in partnership with other local community and voluntary organisations. The courses can take place at their chosen venue for their service users. We can contribute to room hire costs if appropriate.
