This course is an initial introduction course for people preparing for or considering the AAT level 2 Accounting qualification course. If you have completed an initial assessment for the level 2 course you will be required to attend this course which will run directly into the level 2 course. If you already have a little experience in accounting, but maybe have not been in education recently, you will significantly benefit from this course before deciding if a longer-term commitment to the level 2 course is suitable for you at this time.

A full preparation for how the level 2 qualification course is structured and delivered, with opportunity to undertake more in-depth diagnostic assessments, so you are clear about and prepared for the format of the course and its exams. This course will also cover: • The role of being an Accountant • An introduction to the tasks you would undertake in this career • The skills and qualifications you will need to gain employment in this sector.

This three-session course will run directly before the full qualification starts and will be delivered in classroom on the same day and session duration as the full course. It is a non-accredited course which does not have any exams, but you may be encouraged or required to undertake diagnostic assessment to confirm you are ready for the full qualification, if this has not been done prior to the start.

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment for the full level 2 course, but it is not necessarily required before this course, as you will have the opportunity to complete this during the introduction if you prefer. You will need to have English and Maths skills at equivalent to GCSE or level 1 functional skills to progress from this course onto the level 2 qualification. If you do not have proof of this qualification, you will need to undertake an English assessment before joining this course. Your eligibility for course fee funding for the qualification should be considered prior to enrolling on this free introductory course. Information about the fee policy can be found on our website or you can talk to one of our enrolment advisors to discuss your circumstances.

If you decide that being an Accountant is your preferred career path, you can progress onto the level 2 qualification directly following this course or talk with us about your options to join a course later in the academic year. Alternatively, this course may indicate that you should take an alternative route or career path, at which point you will get professional advice and guidance to make the right decision for you. Leicester Adult Education are pleased to offer a free, impartial in-house careers service to support our learners making decisions around their future career goals and choices. We have physical and digital resources available to support you and face to face careers appointments with our qualified and experienced adviser, all of which are easily accessed once enrolled.
