Enhancement Spanish: We Speak in Spanish

Lessons will be delivered in Spanish to create an atmosphere of immersion in the classroom, so, although you don’t need to be a fluent speaker, you will need a good foundation of the language to be able to produce it verbally when talking about a variety of everyday topics.

Este curso te ofrece la posibilidad de practicar la expresión oral mediante una variedad de actividades y ejercicios basados en diferentes temas de conversación. En clase trabajaremos en parejas o en grupos, mientras que en casa trabajarás de forma individual. Esta es una manera fantástica de ganar confianza, trabajar la pronunciación y practicar la fluidez con otros estudiantes. El objetivo principal de este curso es ofrecer oportunidades de hablar en español en un entorno en el que los estudiantes se sientan cómodos y sin miedo a cometer errores. This course offers you the possibility to practice oral expression through a variety of activities and exercises based on different topics of conversation. In class we will work in pairs or groups, while at home you will work individually. This is a great way to build confidence, work on pronunciation and practice fluency with other students. The main objective of this course is to offer opportunities to speak Spanish in an environment in which students feel comfortable and without fear of making mistakes.

There will be no exams or qualifications. Whilst you will, predominantly, be using speaking and listening skills in class, it is also important to recognise and address the fact that reading and writing skills are also very important at this level. Reading and writing will be explored as part of weekly homework, via Google Classroom, which the tutor will mark and feed the results back to you. This will help you both to know what needs to be done to help you progress. Developing independent language skills will be important at this stage in order that you become proficient at studying on your own. Tutors will encourage you and make sure you have the appropriate skills to make it a positive experience. So that you can be successful in learning the language, we do require that you arrive promptly for each lesson, and that you agree to attend at least 80% of the lessons. You will be given an Individual Learning Plan on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress during the course. You will be expected to comment briefly in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve.

You need to have a good understanding of the spoken language, as well as be able to produce it verbally (to a greater or lesser degree of accuracy) in order to access lessons and complete tasks effectively.

This course has a follow up each term and there are other short enhancement courses in Spanish throughout the year that may interest you. Your tutor will be able to inform you of the best options for progression upon request.
