This course will be delivered fully in Italian, so it is aimed at people with a good foundation of the language and not beginners. This course will allow you to reinforce your knowledge of the language as much as explore some cultural aspects by learning about Italian cuisine. It will also enable you to practice your language skills in a different context. Ingredients and aprons will be provided.

Cuciniamo insieme alcuni piatti tipici della cucina italiana, usando il linguaggio tecnico ma anche imparando la storia dietro il piatto e le tecniche tradizionali. We will cook together some typical dishes of Italian cuisine, using technical language but also learning the history behind the dish and traditional techniques.

There will be no exams or qualifications, and the course will focus on practical activities. The tutor will use a combination of group demonstrations and one-to-one support. You will be given an Individual Learning Plan on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress. You will be expected to comment briefly in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve. So that you can be successful in learning about this subject, we do require that you arrive promptly and prepared for each lesson.

You need a good foundation of the language to enable you to understand instructions and to fully participate in the sessions. It is desirable that you have achieved at least a level 3 in French.

This course progresses on to a variety of short enhancement courses in the next academic year. Your tutor will be able to inform you of the best options for progression before the end of your course.
