This is a one-day course aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders, looking after adults in a workplace environment; or to support a designated first aider who has been trained to deal with higher risk category situations or underlying health conditions. You do not need to have any previous first aid experience, but this would be helpful to you.

• The roles and responsibilities of the first aider • How to assess an incident • CPR • Treating unresponsive adults • Choking • Treating minor injuries • Hypovolemic shock.

This is a one-day course that covers the practical and knowledge needed to be competent in Emergency first aid at work. It is an accredited course and industry recognised. The day will be split into teaching and assessment with an end point assessment completed via a written multiple-choice exam. Please make sure you wear practical and comfortable clothing as you will be working at floor level for part of the lesson.

There are no formal entry requirements; however, you will need to pass an assessment before the course starts. We will need to assure ourselves that learners, are physically capable of completing the practical assessment. It is a governing body requirement that you must be able to kneel to perform CPR and this is covered with the disability act. Please speak to an Enrolment Advisor for information or advice about course fees as there is no fee funding for low waged or unemployed people with this qualification.

This qualification will not only show you are competent, but it will also enhance your CV and be of benefit when applying for employment.
