English Entry 2 Functional Skills

We offer English qualifications from Entry 1 to Entry 3. We deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills, and we will discuss with you the most appropriate starting point for your English studies. These qualifications will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed to: • gain a qualification • support your children with their schoolwork • progress on to other courses

• grammar • punctuation • spelling • speaking and listening • writing • reading

We offer: Twice-a-week courses – 4 hours a week, where exams take place during February and July (Functional Skills). If you can commit to 4 hours a week you will be able to complete two levels of English in one academic year. Once-a-week courses – 2 hours per week with most exams taking place in July. To successfully complete the course, you must arrive promptly for each lesson, and attend at least 80% of the lessons. You will also be expected to complete homework. You will be given an Individual Learning Plan in which you and the tutor will be able to monitor your progress. Although the classes are face-to-face your teacher will also use Google Classroom, Google Meet, and other websites to help you access additional online learning. Therefore, you will need regular access to a laptop or tablet. Please speak to an Enrolment Advisor for information or advice about booking an initial assessment.

Before starting an English course with Leicester Adult Education you will need to complete an English initial assessment. This will enable you to be placed on the appropriate course to meet your needs.
