English Level 1/2 Functional Skills - Online - once a week

We offer English qualifications online from Level 1 to Level 2. We deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills and we will discuss with you the most appropriate starting point for your English studies. For these online courses it is essential that you have regular access to a pc, tablet or laptop and internet connectivity. These qualifications will enable you to develop the knowledge and skills needed to: • gain a qualification • support your children with their schoolwork • progress on to other courses

• grammar • punctuation • spelling • speaking and listening • writing • reading

We offer: Twice-a-week courses – 4 hours a week, where exams take place during February and July. If you can commit to 4 hours a week you will be able to complete two levels of English in one academic year. Once-a-week courses – 2 hours per week with most exams taking place in July. To successfully complete the course, you must log on promptly for each lesson, keep your camera on and abide with online etiquette. You must attend at least 80% of the lessons. You will also be expected to complete homework. You will be given an Individual Learning Plan in which you and the tutor will be able to monitor your progress. These classes are online. Your teacher will use Google Classroom, Google Meet, and other websites to help you access online learning. Therefore, you will need regular access to a pc, laptop, Chromebook or tablet. If you are not confident studying online, your teacher will help you and you can attend an induction course to learn how to study online. Please speak to an Enrolment Advisor for information or advice about booking an initial assessment.

Before starting an English course with Leicester Adult Education you will be expected to complete an English initial assessment. This will enable you to be placed on the appropriate course to meet your needs. You will need access to a pc / laptop / Chromebook or tablet for your speaking exams.
