Essential Digital Skills - Entry 3 is a fantastic first step in gaining digital qualifications. This course is designed for those with very little experience using the internet and digital devices. It’s an ideal introduction to the types of digital technology commonly used in most jobs including Word and PowerPoint, helping you to develop your understanding and grow in confidence.

The course covers 5 main areas at an introductory level: • Digital devices and handling online information • Creating and editing documents • Communicating online - emails/video calls • Completing online forms to make secure purchases • Online safety and responsibility - keeping devices and information secure

This course will take place in one of the digital suites at Leicester Adult Education. You will work through various activities and class discussions to help develop your digital literacy. Throughout the course your tutor will assess your understanding and prepare you for two exams which will take place at the end of the course. You will undertake a Knowledge Exam, which is primarily theoretical with multiple choice style questions, and a Skills Exam, a practical scenario-based exam. Both exams are taken on a computer with instant results. Upon passing both exams you will achieve an Entry 3 Essential Digital Skills Qualification from BCS. To help you develop your skills you will be given an account with Office365 which will enable to you effectively practise your digital skills outside of the lesson.

You do not need to have any prior digital qualifications, however a course such as Digital Skills - Beginners will give you an important foundation before starting this qualification. You will also need to demonstrate a minimum of Entry 3 English skills.

This course leads directly on to Essential Digital Skills - Level 1. You may also wish to focus on building your confidence with Microsoft applications on the Microsoft Skills - Intermediate course.
