Creative Writing For Beginners

Beginners courses are intended for people with some previous knowledge of the subject, ideally having previously completed 'An introduction to Creative writing' as this is a continuation course. Lessons will cover simple but key aspects of writing for craft and forms of writing to give you the foundation needed at this early stage. Learning takes place using tutor and peer feedback to share and develop new and existing work. This is not a qualification course.

The course will cover prose, poetry and the basics of writing craft.

There will be no exams or qualifications. Lessons will be classroom based and supported by Google Classroom. This is our virtual learning space which will enhance your learning experience and will be used for resources, extra activities, homework, assignments, reading materials as well as to extend learning and support independent learning throughout the week. You will be able to access Google Classroom via a secure leicesterlearns account. You will be given an Individual Learning Plan on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress. You will be expected to comment briefly in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve. So that you can be successful in your learning, we require that you arrive promptly for each lesson, and that you try not to miss any (you need to agree to attend at least 80% of the lessons). Additionally, students will be asked to complete a course evaluation survey to share their learning experience. This survey will be shared via Google classroom at the end of the course.

This course is for those that have some experience with Creative Writing. If you have: - More than 60 hours experience but less than 120, Creative Writing Intermediate is the right course for you. - If you have over 120 hours experience Advanced Creative Writing is the right course for you.
