Maths Level 1 Functional Skills

Our Maths Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 courses are designed to help you gain confidence and develop essential maths skills. These courses are perfect if you want to gain a recognised qualification, progress to the next level or to vocational courses.

The qualifications cover three content areas: •Using numbers and the number system •Using common measures, shape and space •Handling data and information You will also learn new maths language and vocabulary and strategies for problem solving.

We offer flexible scheduling options to suit your needs: • Twice-a-Week Courses: 4.5 hours per week, allowing you to complete two levels in one academic year. Exams take place in February and June/July. • Once-a-Week Courses: 2.25 hours per week, with most exams in June/July. While classes are face-to-face, your teacher will also use online tools such as Google Classroom and Google Meet. You will need regular access to a PC, laptop or tablet for additional learning resources. To succeed, you must: • Attend at least 80% of lessons • Arrive promptly for each session • Complete weekly homework

To ensure you are placed on the most suitable course, you will complete an initial assessment before starting. This will help us recommend Level 1 or Level 2 based on your current knowledge.

Completing this course will boost your confidence in using maths in everyday situations and to enhance employability opportunities. You may also progress to further Functional Skills Maths courses or GCSE Maths.
