The L1 Award in an Introduction to Mental Health is designed to provide you with a foundation in understanding mental health and wellbeing. This course is perfect for those seeking personal growth or wishing to support others in managing mental health challenges. It offers a blend of classroom activities, discussions, and online assessment to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

This one unit course will enable you to develop knowledge and skills across the following elements: • Understand what is meant by mental health and mental ill health. • Learn strategies to take care of your own mental health and wellbeing. • Explore ways to support family and friends with their mental health and wellbeing. • Identify sources of support available for mental health and wellbeing.

This short course is delivered in a classroom setting, with interactive activities and discussions led by a qualified teacher. You will complete an e-assessment during the course to evidence your achievement of the qualification.

To enrol, you will need to undertake a vocational initial assessment to ensure this course is suitable for you. Confidence using digital skills is essential, as the qualification is assessed through an online multiple-choice examination. A minimum of Entry 3 level English (pre-GCSE equivalent) is required. If you do not have proof of this, you will need to complete an English assessment before joining.

Upon completion, you can progress to the Level 2 Award in an Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing or other related courses in Adult Social Care. While this qualification alone does not guarantee employment, it can strengthen applications for roles where supporting others with mental health challenges is a key component.
