The L2 Award in an Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing is designed to enhance your awareness and understanding of mental health issues. This course focuses on the impact of mental health on individuals and communities, as well as strategies for maintaining and improving mental well-being.

This course will enable you to develop knowledge and skills across the following units: Introduction to mental health, mental ill health and wellbeing: Gain an understanding of mental health, its importance, and how it affects individuals and society. Introduction to first aid for mental health: Learn basic strategies and approaches to recognise and support mental health first aid and early intervention.

This short course is delivered in a classroom setting with interactive activities and discussions led by a qualified teacher. You will complete two e-assessments during the course to demonstrate your achievement of the qualification.

To ensure this course is suitable for you, you will need to complete a vocational initial assessment. Confidence with basic digital skills is essential, as the course is assessed through two online multiple-choice examinations. You will need English skills at a minimum of Level 1. If you cannot provide evidence of this, you will be required to undertake an English assessment prior to enrolment. For those considering progression into Level 2 qualifications, particularly for employment, achieving higher-level English qualifications is strongly recommended.

Upon completion, you may progress to more detailed study of mental health and wellbeing subjects at Level 2 or explore other courses related to Adult Social Care. While this qualification alone does not guarantee employment, it will enhance your applications for roles in sectors that involve supporting or working with people. Additionally, the skills and knowledge gained are valuable for personal development and understanding mental health in everyday life.
