Let's Get Digital

Do you own a smart device (phone or tablet) but feel unsure about how to use it or access online services? This introductory course is for new learners to help you feel more confident in using your phone or tablet in everyday life. This course will help you develop key digital skills and knowledge using your device to: create strong passwords stay safe online use an email account for everyday communication access the internet through Wi-Fi and mobile data understand how to use QR codes downloading and joining NHS services online eg GP surgeries, 111 Online explore your interests and find social connections on-line plan local travel

This is a practical, classroom-based course delivered in small groups. The aim of the course is to help you gain the confidence to do things independently. You will: Learn by actively using your own device during each session Be encouraged to try things yourself to build confidence and independence Take part in small group work and classroom discussions to share your experience Complete short worksheets to support practice and reinforce learning Tutors are there to support and guide you, helping you learn through practice and encouraging you to complete tasks yourself You will work at your own pace in a supportive environment and complete an Individual Learning Plan to track your progress.

There are no formal entry requirements. However, you should: Have Entry English reading, listening and comprehension skills Bring your own smartphone or tablet, fully charged, to each session Inform us in advance if you do not have a device To help you decide if this is the course for you, please consider the following questions Is this the right course for you?
