French: Beginners Part A

Do you know some words in French? Would you like to start speaking in sentences? Then this is the course for you!

In this 26-week course, sessions will cover simple but key aspects of the language and its culture in a variety of everyday situations including set phrases, greetings, introducing yourself, food, drinks, directions and much more.

Learners are expected to know some very basic words but those with no knowledge of the language are also welcome. Ideally, learners joining this course would have completed our "Getting Started with French" course or had done some introductory course or practice in apps such as Duolingo or Rosetta Stone.

In this non-qualification course you will practise the language in an immersive way. The tutor will tailor the content to the needs of the group. Learners are expected to predominately practise their speaking and listening skills in class and practise reading and writing skills as part of regular homework tasks. This gives the tutor an opportunity to identify group weaknesses and to provide learners with personalised feedback to help them improve.

This course leads to French: Beginners Part B. Your tutor will be able to give you more information before the end of your course.
