This course is intended for people with mixed levels of experience. The tutor will ensure that total beginners will get the instruction and support they need, and that those who are more advanced in the subject will be given tasks with more challenge. This course is being held at our Bishopdale Learning Hub. There is no cafe onsite and limited amenities nearby. There is a drinks machine onsite for refreshments (card only). Please ensure you bring a packed lunch for the day.

Craft your own ceramic teapot! In this one-day course, you'll learn essential techniques to form the main vessel, including a stable base and a perfectly fitting lid. You'll also discover how to expertly make and attach the handle and spout. Your unique creation will be bisque fired, ready for collection. To make your teapot fully functional, you can glaze it during a future pay-as-you-go session. Please contact our enrolment team for more information on how to book on PAYG sessions.

The lesson will be classroom based and supported by Google Classroom. This is our virtual learning space which will enhance your learning experience and will be used for resources, assessment, as well as to extend learning outside the classroom and to support independent learning. You will be able to access Google Classroom via your secure leicesterlearns account. You will be asked to contribute to a Learning Plan and the class Padlet on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress. You will be expected to contribute to discussions and comment in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve. So that you can be successful in learning the subject, we do require that you arrive promptly. Clay, slips, underglazes and firing have been included in the course cost price. Please note: Your work will need to be fired and will not be ready to take home on the day. Your Tutor will advise you on collection dates and times. Please do not wear open toe shoes due to health & safety and tie long hair back.

There will be no exams or qualifications, as the course will focus on creative activities. The Tutor will use a combination of group demonstrations and one-to-one support. To ensure fair access to our high-demand tailored learning courses and to better support your learning journey, we are moving to a termly enrolment cycle. This means you will now enrol for one term at a time. Your tutor will work with you during the term to identify the best progression route for your goals.

We have a range of courses available to expand your knowledge and enhance wellbeing. Please discuss with your tutor the next steps and best course for you to progress. More information and how to enrol is available on our website. To enrol on these courses please contact our enrolment team. In addition, you can access impartial careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) through the careers service at Leicester Adult Education.
