Belong in Britain: An Interactive Guide to UK History and Culture

This online course covers the essential history, values, and institutions of the United Kingdom. Over the duration of the course, we will explore: - The Values and Principles of the UK: Understanding the foundational principles of British society, including democracy, the rule of law, and individual liberty. - What is the UK?: A look at the distinct countries, capitals, and cultural identities that make up the United Kingdom. - A Long and Illustrious History: From early Britain, the Romans, and the Middle Ages, through to the industrial revolution, the World Wars, and the modern era. - A Modern, Thriving Society: An exploration of British culture, including influential literature, art, music, sports, and major festivals. - The UK Government and Law: How the British parliamentary system works, the role of the Monarchy, and your rights and responsibilities as a resident.

Expect an engaging, interactive, and highly supportive learning environment. This isn't just about memorizing facts from a textbook; it’s about bringing history and culture to life. You will participate in group discussions, interactive quizzes modelled after real Life in the UK questions, and multimedia presentations. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share your own perspectives, and connect with fellow learners from all walks of life.

To enrol onto this course, you will need to have an internet connection and a device that allows you to join our online sessions via Google Meet. ESOL learners will need to have at least an Entry 2 level to join.
