English Level 2

Our English Entry 1 courses develop learner’s skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

English Level 1 courses teach learners how to:

  • Speak with different people in familiar and unfamiliar situations, such as: education, training and work.
  • Follow and understand the main ideas of a discussion, understand the explanations, ask questions, ask for more information, give their opinion, listen to others and compare options and offer different suggestions.
  • Develop their presentation skills and be involved in a discussion following another student’s presentation.
  • Develop independent skills in reading and understanding different texts on a variety of topics and be able to find information from different texts such as: descriptive, instructional, explanatory and persuasive texts.
  • There will be opportunities to look at a variety of functional tasks such as writing real-life texts, where learners will clearly communicate information, ideas and opinions using different formats such as: letters, emails, reports, articles and blogs.
  • Increase their knowledge of grammar, punctuation, develop spelling strategies and memory techniques as well as independent learning and study skills.

If learners require additional support or other ways of learning, tutors will be able to help with these as well.

This course can lead to progression onto English GCSE or other academic paths.
