ESOL Start Up

Our ESOL Start Up courses are for complete beginners. These courses teach learners the basic language skills needed to live in the UK including, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

ESOL Start Up Courses teach learners how to:

  • Talk about themselves, their family, and some everyday topics.
  • Use simple language to ask questions and ask for more information.
  • Understand simple instructions, listen to others, make comments and talk about likes and dislikes in a conversation.
  • Learn to read in English.
  • Complete forms with basic information. For example, name, address and phone number
  • Write sentences about topics they’re studying.
  • Learn grammar and new words.
  • Learn spelling tips, memory techniques and study skills.

  • Hobbies
  • Home

  • Numbers and money

If learners require additional support or other ways of learning, tutors will be able to help with these as well.

This course can lead to progression onto our ESOL Prepare for Entry 1 courses.
