Inspiring Curiosity
Explore ways to inspire curiosity in your children and yourself to make learning fun! These courses include celebrating festivals, too busy to be bored, green skills, and discovering and exploring every maths, science, history and geography.
Celebrating Festivals
This short course will explore different festivals celebrated in multi-cultural Leicester. You will be supported to:
- Recognise the similarities and differences between these festivals
- Learn the History behind why we celebrate these festivals
- Design and create a craft of their choice to take home
Too Busy to be Bored
This short course will support you to understand how to plan a range of fun activities to do together in school holidays and at weekends:
- Use of recyclable objects for different projects
- Map a variety of activities on a planner so your child can see what is coming up next
- Supports your child’s understanding of how the world around you works through activities linked to nature and art
- Help you to choose the best resources to support your child’s learning in a fun way during the school holidays – especially on rainy days!
Learning Through Arts and Craft
This short course will teach you a variety of imaginative art and craft activities that they can use to support your child’s development, learning and wellbeing.
Green Skills
This short course will help you to understand:
- The importance of outdoor learning on your child’s development.
- The positive impact being in nature can have on mental wellbeing.
- Environmental awareness and how you can reduce your carbon footprint.
Discovering and Exploring...
Our Discovering and Exploring courses will support you to understand how to choose the best resources to support your child’s learning alongside the work sent home from school. These short courses will help you to understand areas of the Early Years Foundation stage and the primary school curriculum.
Discovering and Exploring ... Everyday Maths
You will explore:
- Different ways to support you child’s maths development using a mix of resources and practical activities
- How to be more confident in using maths language to support your child
- Creating activities and games to support maths learning in a fun way.
Discovering and Exploring ... Everyday Science
You will explore:
- Different ways to support your child’s science skills using a mix of resources, practical games, activities and
experiments - How to be more confident in using science language and encourage curiosity in your child to use their Predictive, Observation and Investigative skills
- Supporting your child’s understanding of how the world around them works.
Discovering and Exploring ... Everyday History
You will explore:
- Different ways to support your child’s understanding of history using a mix of online resources and practical
activities. - How to encourage your child to be curious about the past, by exploring local, world and your family history.
- Supporting your child’s understanding of what has happened in the past and how this has shaped today’s world.
Discovering and Exploring ... Everyday Geography
You will explore:
- How to be more confident in encouraging curiosity about different places, populations and cultures.
- Different ways to support your child’s skills using a mix of online resources, practical games and activities that link to geography.
