This course is designed as a natural progression from EDS Entry 3, it is the second in the Essential Digital Skills qualification and it is designed for learners with some experience of using digital devices and the internet but lack secure basic digital skills. The course will run over 10 weeks with one 3-hour session every week.

You will learn all the relevant skills in using a PC in the modern world. There are units covering the five areas within the government's Essential Digital Framework which include: • Being safe and responsible online and on digital devices • Using digital devices and handling information • Creating and editing • Digital communication • Transacting digitally

This is a face to face, classroom-based course and will receive guidance from your tutor to work through a variety of online and PC-based resources both individually and in paired or group work. You will receive excellent feedback to help you improve your skills, enhance your learning and successfully take the two exams (Knowledge and Skills). As part of the course you will be set up with full access to Office365.

There are no formal entry requirements. However, you are expected to have basic entry level English reading, listening and comprehension skills. You will also be expected to have basic computer skills or have completed our Essential Digital Skills - Entry 3.

This course can lead to further progression in IT qualifications such as ICDL L2. It will also give both yourself and your future employers confidence that you have gained relevant IT skills to be able to work competently in a modern office environment. Leicester Adult Education are pleased to offer a free, impartial in-house careers service to support our learners to make decisions around their future career goals and choices. We have physical and digital resources available to support you and face to face careers appointments with our qualified and experienced adviser, all of which are easily accessed once enrolled.
