The Level 2/3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with and care for children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification, it is intended those learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. This course is suitable for learners already working as early years practitioners who want to develop their skills to become an advanced practitioner.

Level 2 This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner within the Early Years Workforce. You will have 14 units to complete both knowledge and practical. Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as: • Nursery practitioner • Classroom assistant • Pre-school practitioner. Level 3 You will have 23 units to complete both knowledge and practical. This will allow you to have a licence to practice in any of these job roles: • Practitioner in day nurseries • Practitioner in Nursery schools • Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools • Pre-school worker.

The Early Years Educator level 3 Diploma is part of our working with children and adults courses. The level 3 diploma is funded as part of the adult skills fund, so if you are over 25 and do not currently hold a level 3 qualification, you will have your course fees funded for this qualification. You will ideally already hold a level 2 EYE certificate and have prior experience in this area of work. You will be taught the skills and knowledge needed to complete the course during weekly sessions and assigned an assessor who will assess you in placement. You will need to complete up to 6 hours per week for Level 2 and 13 hours per week for Level 3 in placement during the duration of the course. It is your responsibility to secure a placement. You will need an enhanced DBS to work with children from 0 - 4 in placement. There are no exams as you are assessed on your portfolio of evidence. This is an industry recognised qualification through CACHE. Please speak to an Enrolment Advisor for information or advice about course fees.

You will need to show proof that you have English and maths qualifications at level 2 (Functional Skills or GCSE). You will also be asked to complete an English and vocational knowledge assessment prior to being enrolled on this course. This is to ensure that the course is at the appropriate level for you.

The Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) confers the knowledge and skills learners require to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. The qualification is approved by the National College of Teaching and Leadership as Full and Relevant. Leicester Adult Education are pleased to offer a free, impartial in-house careers service to support our learners to make decisions around their future career goals and choices.
