If you are already working in a business finance role or you have basic knowledge about double entry bookkeeping, this course will enable you to expand your skill set to proficiently use Sage computerised software in the workplace. Business owners and self-employed people will also benefit from this course to be able to better manage the business accounts; understand the process and improve oversight of this task if it is undertaken by an external accountant or bookkeeper.

You will have access to a trial version of SAGE for the duration of the course only and you will cover the following areas of knowledge and skills: • Banking procedures • Principles of recording and processing financial transactions • Principles of VAT • Professional values and basic business legislation • Setting up accounting software to manage accounting information • Processing routine payments and receipts using a computerised system • Maintaining and recording the cash book and journal.

This course is delivered by mixed teaching methods including online taught sessions, remote independent work and classroom-based sessions for exams and preparation. You will study eight mandatory units with practice exams before the two final online assessments. These units give you an excellent understanding of both the underpinning knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and computerised accounting software. This course provides you with a great proficiency of skills in bookkeeping and accounting. This will be explained to you on the introductory course you will need to enrol on to gain entry to this course.

This Level 2 course will help you gain skills to use SAGE software to support your career in accountancy, bookkeeping or business finance roles. A mix of online and remote delivery offers flexibility to learn from home or work with direct teaching support. You will need to attend an induction course at the college before joining this course.

After completing this course, you may wish to progress to the VTCT (Skills First) RQF Computerised Accounting for Business Level 3 Qualification. Depending on your existing skills and qualifications you may be ready for either a Level 2 or 3 Accountancy or Bookkeeping qualification, if this is your career aim. A payroll course would be a valuable additional qualification to these qualifications, as processing wages is not specifically covered on this course. Leicester Adult Education are pleased to offer a free, impartial in-house career service to support our learners to make decisions around their future career goals and choices. We have physical and digital resources available to support you and face to face careers appointments with our qualified and experienced adviser, all of which are easily accessed once enrolled.
