Be Independent: Making & Selling

This course is for people aged 25 or over, who have mild to moderate learning disabilities. This course will benefit people who enjoy working as part of a team to plan, design, make, and sell a product. All profits will be donated to a charity of the group's choice. There will be lots of opportunities to develop skills and experiences that will be useful in future voluntary or paid work.

On this short course you will work as part of a team to plan, create and sell a product. Along the way you will develop your skills with managing budgets and money, researching your ideas, designing products and selling to the public. You will also learn how to reflect and evaluate your team’s work.

Our Be Independent courses focus on fun, practical activities that will help you to gain and develop the skills to do more for yourself and others in your everyday life. All or our courses will have a Google Classroom which is an online place where your tutor will share information about your course. You can get on your Google Classroom via your secure leicesterlearns account. Your tutor can help you to do this. Whilst learning with us, you will be given an Individual Learning Plan. This will be used to share your course outcomes and your personal outcome and how much progress you are making towards them. Every session, your tutor will chat with you about your work and how you are getting on with your learning and the projects you are working on.

For people aged 25 and over with moderate learning disabilities. Before you join the course, you will meet one of our team who will help you make the right choice of course and to make sure we understand the best way to help you learn, progress, and enjoy your time.
