Italian for Beginners

Beginners courses are intended for people with some previous knowledge of the subject, ideally having previously completed the Getting started with course as this is a continuation course. Lessons will cover simple but key aspects of the language in a variety of everyday situations to give you the foundation needed at this early stage. Learning takes place using an immersive and collaborative approach in which active practice and communication are vital. This is not a qualification course.

Lessons will cover simple but key aspects of the language in a variety of everyday situations to give you the foundation needed at this early stage. You are going to continue learning key vocabulary and set phrases in a variety of “survival” contexts and some important aspects of the culture; practise your reading, listening, speaking and writing skills; work in pairs/small groups; and increase your awareness of basic grammar.

In this non-qualification course you will learn the language in an immersive way. The tutor will be responsive to the class needs, responding to the group weaknesses. Learners are expected to predominately practice their speaking and listening skills in class and practice reading and writing skills as part of regular homework tasks. This gives the tutor an opportunity to identify group weaknesses and to provide you with personalised feedback to help you improve.

This course leads to progression courses in the language. Your tutor will be able to give you more information before the end of your course.
