Do you own a smart device (phone or tablet) but unsure how to make the best use of the features and settings already available on your device? This course is ideal for beginners, learners with low confidence, or those who have previously completed the Let’s Get Digital course and would like to continue developing their skills. This course will help you to explore the basic features and settings on your device to stay organised, safe, and more independent in daily life. Topics covered Organise home screens, pages, apps, and widgets for everyday use Setting up device security including PINs, passwords, fingerprints, and face recognition Managing storage, deleting unwanted files and apps, and understanding backups and cloud storage Adjusting accessibility settings including display, sound, touch, keyboard, and screen zoom features Adding emergency contacts, medical information, and quick dial features for safety and support Using contacts, calendars, reminders, alarms, and timers to stay organised.

This is a practical, classroom-based course delivered in small groups. The aim of the course is to help you gain the confidence to do things independently You will: Learn by actively using your own device during each session Be encouraged to try things yourself to build confidence and independence Take part in small group work and classroom discussions to share your experience Complete short worksheets to support practice and reinforce learning Tutors are there to support and guide you, helping you learn through practice and encouraging you to complete tasks yourself You will work at your own pace in a supportive environment and complete an Individual Learning Plan to track your progress.

There are no formal entry requirements. However, you should: Have Entry English reading, listening and comprehension skills Bring your own smartphone or tablet, fully charged, to each session Inform us in advance if you do not have a device To help you decide if this is the course for you, please consider the following questions Do I want to become more confident using my own device? Am I willing to try tasks myself? Am I comfortable completing a short worksheet during the course to support my learning? Am I happy to learn in a group setting with others? If you answered yes to most of these questions, this course is likely to be a good fit for you.
