Doc Media Centre's Military History Live is returning!
Are you interested in military history or discovering more about your own family’s involvement?
Doc Media Centre’s event, which returns this Saturday, explores this through a range of stall exhibitors, talks, films, workshops, discussions of military campaigns with re-enactors and more!
They'll also be discussion into how Leicester had a role to events from the past 500 years, from soldiers to the home front.
You can bring your family memorabilia along to let our experts tell you more about them and be guided through the archives available online to aid your own family history research.
Tina Burton, Director of Education & Engagement at the Documentary Media Centre, will be delivering a free 'Museum in a Box' workshop at 11am. In this workshop, you are welcome to please bring along some personal family military or civilian service items you’d like to include e.g. photos, maps, documents, cuttings, objects like badges etc. All construction materials supplied and children are welcome.
It's going to be a fantastic event, which our learners, staff and the general public are more than welcome t attend! The event is completely free and no booking is required.

Military History Live is part of the Saturday Heritage Fairs, which you can read more about below.
Saturday Heritage Fairs:
We have been honoured to host Documentary Media Centre's Saturday Heritage Fairs the past 9 months. They've been inspiring, engaging days.
The Saturday Heritage Fairs aim to provide a meeting point for individuals and small groups from the new Independent Heritage Network who are developing heritage projects based on their own interests.
Perhaps you are a community group in the early stages of developing a heritage collection? Are you thinking of growing an existing collection? Or are you thinking about turning your collection into a registered small independent museum? If yes, the Saturday Heritage Fairs are here to support you!
The Saturday Heritage Fairs are also open to the public so that you can find out more about the independent heritage projects being developed across Leicester. Why not come along to share your own lived experience? They’ll be lots of engaging talks, workshops, displays and more too. We know some of our learners will love these events!
So, join Doc Media Centre on Saturday 29th June, 10am-3pm for an event you can't miss!
Venue:
Leicester Adult Education College, Belvoir Street, LE1 6QL.
No need to book, just come along!
