How Multiply Transformed Georgina’s Future
We sat down to talk to our Multiply learner, Georgina. Here's what she told us about her experience on our Multiply courses.

Georgina became made redundant after having her job for 7 years. “I felt a bit lost”, she shared with us. A visit to the Job Centre led Georgina to consider refreshing her skills, as the Job Centre recommended our Computing and Digital courses.
However, whilst searching for a new job, it quickly became apparent to Georgina that the job market had shifted. "Employers now want you to have a GCSE grade C in English and maths," she noted. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Georgina decided to study maths alongside her computing course.
Fast forward to today, and Georgina is hoping to complete her level 2 English and maths, move onto Counselling Level 2 and then start to look for an Administration role within the NHS. Then, she hopes to continue her Counselling studies to combine those qualifications with a role at the NHS, to progress further within her career.
When asked what she enjoyed most about the Multiply course, Georgina was quick to highlight the social aspect. "Meeting new people has been great. When you’re at home without a job, you don’t have that place to go to"
The support from her tutors was also a standout feature, "The tutors have been brilliant, fantastic". Georgina particularly praised the teaching styles, which made her feel relaxed and able to learn. "If it wasn’t for these guys here, I don’t think I’d have done it," she told us.
"I wasn’t sure how I was going to do academically after nearly 20 to 30 years since I’ve been at school" she acknowledged. But the supportive environment and smaller class sizes made a huge difference. "No one huffs and puffs, everyone is inviting. It’s not just what they’ve taught, it’s the time and patience. A lot is sinking in, whereas it didn’t before. If you’ve got the right tutors, it’s amazing what you learn." she explained. Georgina learnt in our Multiply hub, which is pictured above (with another learner).
Beyond academic skills, Georgina found her confidence growing and her wellbeing improving:
"I feel better because I’ve got maths underneath me now. It will give me confidence walking into a job”.
Even the routine of attending classes and being with other learners in similar situations has helped as it gave her structure and purpose.
We wish Georgina the best for the future and wish her all the luck when searching for her dream role in the NHS. Georgina proves the power Multiply had to teach essential numeracy skills, but also how it has improved confidence and opened doors for many of our learners.
Would you like to learn maths? Although Multiply has come to a close, we're still running our usual maths courses.
