Passion on display: Ashraf’s Artwork in our Exhibition
We recently spoke to Ashraf, one of our art learners, whose work is being showcased in the promotional materials for our upcoming exhibition, 'We Present: Leicester Adult Education’. Read more of his passion for art!

We recently spoke to Ashraf, one of our art learners, whose work is being showcased in the promotional materials for our upcoming exhibition, 'We Present: Leicester Adult Education’. We asked him a few questions about his experiences on our art courses and his ongoing passion for creating art.
Ashraf has always had a passion for art. He said that by attending a course, he ensures he’s putting time aside for that passion. As otherwise, Ashraf told us he would keep procrastinating at home and will never get his art supplies out. Plus, Ashraf said: “it gives me something to look forward to!”.
For Ashraf, the art courses are about more than just developing creative skills.
“Getting out of the house to interact with people stretches your mind. It gives me an identity too.” Beyond the art itself, the courses have provided Ashraf with a sense of connection and purpose. "We talk to and learn new things from different people, which brushes off on my skills." In addition to honing his craft, Ashraf has found a supportive community in the classroom. "The classes and other learners are friendly, everyone is very smiley!” He notes.
"You really do forget about your worries; you just get to the class and focus on your artwork.”
Ashraf particularly enjoys mixing colours and tones, aiming to perfect his technique. "My tutor has vast experience and he teaches us a wide range of techniques. You learn something new in every class."
For Ashraf, the art courses have not only reignited his passion for creating but have also offered a space for growth, "It does help mental health," he shares. "Having something to look forward to keeps your mind ticking.”
Ashraf’s work, 'Meals on Wheels,' has been selected for Leicester Adult Education’s upcoming exhibition which is being featured in the promotional materials. "Excited," he says of seeing his work showcased. "It’s nice to be able to show your work to others and see how everyone has interpreted that work."
Would you like to see Ashraf, and other learner's work on display? You can at our upcoming exhibition. In fact, you can even join our open evening on Thursday 26 June!

Ashraf expressed that “these courses are for everyone, as everyone can enjoy art. I’d recommend them.” Looking ahead, Ashraf plans to continue exploring new techniques. "Next year, I might do a watercolour course" he says.
And that, for Ashraf, is the beauty of art. The chance to keep learning, keep connecting with others and to keep creating art. We can’t wait to see him develop his skills further.
