Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

This Level 3 course is for learners who already have a previous level 2 qualification in Counselling and want to take the next step towards training to become a counsellor.

You will learn more about Counselling Theory, ethics and mental health. This qualification is intended for candidates who have already acquired a recognised qualification in counselling skills and want to: • take the next step in training to become a counsellor • learn more about counselling theory, ethics and mental health • be prepared for work as a professional counsellor in an agency setting This qualification does not lead to employment. It is designed as a pre-practitioner training for professional counselling qualifications but it could also lead to employment in a related field.

You will need to have completed the Level 2 course. This qualification is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty and/or severe psychological distress. When considering your entitlement to fee funding for courses, we will discuss your eligibility prior to enrolment or becoming responsible for any costs.

Successful completion of the course will allow you to progress onto the Foundation Degrees in Counselling, Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling or the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Advice and Guidance. It can also be considered as an essential step in the process of becoming a fully qualified counselling practitioner.
