This course is intended for people with some experience of yoga. You don’t need to be at an advanced level, but you should have attended at least one yoga course in the past. This course will assume that you have an understanding of some of the basic poses in yoga. This course is therefore unsuitable for complete beginners. This course will take place online so you will need access to the internet on a suitable device (phone, tablet, laptop, desk-top computer). Your device should have a mic and camera so that the tutor can see and hear you to give feedback on your practice. Lessons will take place on Google Meet. They will be supported by Google Classroom, which is our virtual learning space used for housing yoga resources and a short weekly homework activity you will need to do. You will be able to access Google Meet and Google Classroom via your secure leicesterlearns account. .

Warm-up routines, Yoga postures (asanas) and sequences, Breathing exercises (pranayama), Relaxation techniques, Mindfulness and body awareness practices. The sessions are designed to help you to build strength and improve your mobility, balance and coordination, as well as help you to relax and become more mindful.

"There will be no exams or qualifications, and the course will focus on practical activities. How to prepare for the course: ● Clothing - Wear loose, comfortable clothing in layers. ● Space - A space big enough to lie down and reach your arms out to the side and also overhead. ● Mat - A yoga mat is best as other surfaces can be slippery for some poses. ● Props - Props aren’t essential, but they can be useful to support your practice. Examples include: a blanket, chair, cushion, block and strap. ● Health screening questionnaire and agreement - You will be asked to complete our health screening questions before you start the course. What we expect from you: ● Attendance - So that you can be successful in learning yoga, we do require that you arrive promptly for each lesson, and that you try not to miss any (you need to agree to attend at least 80% of the lessons). ● Individual Learning Plan - You will be given an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) on which you and the tutor will be able to chart your progress. After every lesson, you will be expected to comment briefly in writing on your learning, and your tutor will give you feedback and suggestions on ways in which you can improve. This short weekly homework activity is a requirement of the course."

Some previous experience of yoga practice. Not for absolute beginners.
