Our Family Learning team recently partnered with Centre for Fun and Families and NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to run ‘Get in the Know’ Family First Aid workshops.
These workshops were delivered free of charge at various venues across Leicester, for parents and carers of children aged under 10-years old.
The aim of the workshops was to equip parents and carers with the knowledge and practical skills needed in order to look after their children’s health. These workshops were delivered by our Family Learning Tutors. On these workshops, parents and carers learnt how to:
. Care for childhood injuries
. Keep their families safe by learning how to treat minor accidents and injuries
. Do the recovery position, carry out CPR and apply bandages
. Identify the right medical health service to support them and their families.
Parents and carers (and us!) had a great time and learnt lots of valuable skills that they can share with others. Parents shared with us some kind words about the workshops:
“The tutors were very knowledgeable, and also had a great sense of humour!”
“Useful, educational and I feel more confident now”
“These workshops were very educational, and the tutors were really friendly.”
“I liked that I’ve now learnt how to do CPR correctly”
Thank you to our partners, tutors, parents and carers. Look out for future announcements for Family First Aid!
As part of our usual Family Learning programme, we regularly offer a suite of Family Health and Wellbeing courses, with First Aid being included. If this is of interest to you, click the link below to learn more.
