Sally first joined us as an adult learner in 2008 when she enrolled onto one of our Russian language courses. We then met Sally again after her situation changed in lockdown and she enrolled onto both our Employment Programme courses and our Computing & Digital courses.
The Employment Programme courses that Sally enrolled onto were our CV Construction, Interview Survival and Search & Apply courses. Sally said that the courses:
“Really helped me be more confident and helped me to identify what further learning I needed"
"The CV course really gave me the confidence to adapt my CV for particular jobs and the interview tips were really helpful in getting me to think about what questions I should ask at an interview”
Sally is now an oboe teacher at Leicester Grammar school, which she believes our Employment Programme courses helped her apply for the job and be successful in recruitment.
Also, Sally has been a self-employed oboe teacher for 10 years. She told us that our Computing and Digital Skills course helped boost her self-employment. Sally developed skills in creating resources for teaching, such as creating videos and incorporating YouTube videos into her lessons.
Fiona, Sally’s tutor, told us:
"Sally enjoyed her Essential Digital Skills course as it gave her more experience with using both PowerPoint and Excel to help her stay organised with her self-employment role. She became more confident using the Internet; inserting and using hyperlinks within documentation – so much so that she was happy to help with other students in the class. A real joy to have in the classroom and she left with my best wishes for the future!"
When asked “what’s next?”, Sally expressed she is optimistic about her future career. We have loved watching Sally progress and we can’t wait to see what else she achieves!
